Thailand’s luxury condo market is one of the things that makes living in Thailand so attractive to foreigners and expats. Search for a Thailand luxury condo in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Hua Hin, or almost any major expat destination and you'll find beautiful high-rise developments with resort-style swimming pools, modern gyms, rooftop lounges, security, tropical landscaping, and incredible city or ocean views. Whether you're renting a condo in Thailand, considering buying property, or simply researching the cost of living in Thailand, these developments can make luxury living seem surprisingly accessible.
But after living in Thailand and Southeast Asia for years—and actually living in these types of condos—I've started looking at the word “luxury” very differently. There are things you begin noticing once you get beyond the beautiful photos, condo tours, impressive amenities, and first impressions. And some of those things rarely get discussed when foreigners talk about the advantages of condo living in Thailand.
